about

Here's our tune "True Country" which is a story about a New Englander who journeys South to try to connect with the country music he loves. In Nashville, he meets up with an old timer at a bar who changes his perspective. The old timer explains that if music comes from the heart - it's real, no matter where you were born or what town you live in. It's just a state of mind.

lyrics

TRUE COUNTRY

Booked a trip down to Nashville, Tennessee
To find my southern roots and drink the Yankee out of me
Stopped in a honky tonk to spend my dime
There I met an Old timer who shared these words over wine...

He said “So you think you can't be country” ..............

unless you carry a shotgun in your car
and have an unpaid tab at the local bar
and seven long necks are chilling in the fridge
and you've got your second cousin for a date
Pay your bills 91 days late
and have a Gal who airs your laundry on the line
and you've got 10 maxed out credit cards
and a rusted tractor in the yard
but if you want to be true country son it's just a state of mind

-------solo over chorus section -------

So I went back up to Boston feeling good
With a bottle of Rebel Yell, a straight six under my hood.
I polished my B Bender to a shine
but I won't forget that old timer’s words he shared over wine..

He said “so you think you can't be country .....
unless you carry a shotgun in your car
and have an unpaid tab at the local bar
and seven long necks are chilling in the fridge
and you've got your second cousin for a date
Pay your bills 91 days late
and have a Gal who airs your laundry on the line
You like drinkin’ brown booze, smoking grass
shooting at street signs as you pass
and making bets on lucky number nine
you've got 10 maxed out credit cards
and a rusted tractor in the yard
but if you want to be true country it's just a state of mind

solo over verse up to - chorus

He said “so you think you can't be country ..... (stop)
unless you carry a shotgun in your car
and have an unpaid tab at the local bar
and seven long necks are chilling in the fridge
and you've got your second cousin for a date
Pay your bills 91 days late
and have a Gal who airs your laundry on the line
and you've got 10 maxed out credit cards
and a rusted tractor in the yard
but if you want to be true country son it's just a state of mind
Yeah if you want to be true country Son it's just a state of mind.
